Starting pitcher Ron Bargiel pitched well enough to help the Atlanta Generals beat the Dallas Wranglers, 9-3. The Generals saw their win-loss record go to 40-49. At the same time, the Wranglers fell to 47-44.

Atlanta first baseman John Darnell contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 41st hit of the season and put the Generals ahead, 4-2.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Darnell.
