On the mound for Pittsburgh was right-hander Roger Long, who played a pivotal role in the win. Bob Cole recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 13 for 20. The winning continues for Pittsburgh, with the latest making it 8 straight.
Bo McBean, who finished 4th in the NBL in wins above replacement with 6.5 in 1957, aided the Pittsburgh cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the second baseman drew 1 walk.
