Montreal turned a good performance from starting pitcher Bob Schar into a 3-1 triumph over the Baltimore Lords at LaSalle Stadium. Schar, now 7-8, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 1, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Al Johns recorded the save, making him 21 for 26.

Jeff Murchison, who finished 5th in the NBL in slugging percentage with .515 in 1972, helped out the Montreal cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the right fielder drove in one run.

"I'm happy we won," said Schar. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."

The win puts Montreal at 51-39 this season.
