Cincinnati Tacks 2-1 Loss on Philadelphia
|
The Cincinnati Packers got a magnificent performance from pitcher Fernando Lopez, who muffled the Philadelphia offense en route to a tight, 2-1 Packers win at Roman Arena. Lopez picked up the win for Cincinnati, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-10. Picking up the save was Jerry Meek, his 9th.
Glenn Palmer had a big run-scoring triple for the Packers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Cincinnati leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a slider from Mel Hartman and swatted a triple to center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Packers ahead, 2-0.
Palmer said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
With the win, Cincinnati has a record of 44-51. Philadelphia falls to 37-57.
