Alexander Dominates Cleveland
|
The Cleveland Bobcats manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Washington Eagles. The Bobcats were overpowered by Washington starter Dave Alexander, who hurled his club to victory, 2-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Daniel Mays said.
Over 9 innings, Alexander blanked Cleveland on 6 hits with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Alexander said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
In 22 starts this season, Alexander has picked up 11 wins while suffering 7 losses. He has pitched 170.1 innings, allowed 178 hits, struck out 79 and posted a 3.54 ERA.
