Generals Tuck Away 8-4 Win Over Detroit
Atlanta and Detroit got after it at Atlantic Station Field.

The Atlanta Generals cut down the Detroit Wolverines by the score of 8-4, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Ed Mika. Mika went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Generals. Atlanta reliever Ron Winder picked up the win, raising his record to 5-5. Doug Fiorentino was tagged with the loss.

Emil Wathen, who finished 5th in the ABL in batting average with .289 in 1968, helped out the Atlanta cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the second baseman was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs.

"What's not to like about a win?" said Wathen.

The Generals raised their record to 42-49.
