Lord Excels in 10-7 Atlanta Win
Richie Lord helped his team muscle past the New York Empires, 10-7. In the game, the Atlanta center fielder went 4-5 with 4 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Atlanta reliever Renie White got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Jack Pratt was tagged with the loss. With the loss, New York is 6-3.

Atlanta used the timely hitting of Roberto Palacios to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Generals on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Palacios, "one at-bat at a time."
