Industrials Raise Rally Flag, Beat Cincinnati, 4-2
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Pittsburgh Industrials got the win.
Pittsburgh pinch hitter Earl Yates played a vital role in his team's 4-2 conquest of Cincinnati. He was 1 for 1 with a home run for Pittsburgh. The Industrials, at 57-39, sit in second place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.
Bob Boyle, the 18th overall pick in the 1971 draft, had a direct impact on the outcome. Boyle contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Pittsburgh up, 4-2.
"We did enough to win," said Boyle.
