Pobladores Tagged with 4-1 Loss
|
The New York Empires downed the Los Angeles Pobladores, 4-1, at Queens Field. Stellar pitching by Nate Frampton had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who finished 3rd in the ABL in strikeouts with 203 in 1964, handcuffed his opponent all game. Frampton yielded 1 run over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 9-11. The 'W' lifts New York's record to 52-44.
New York first baseman Lowell Bickle helped the cause with a single in the bottom of the third. For the game, Bickle was 1 for 3 with a walk.
Bickle said his team "played with focus."
