New York Knickerbockers starter Ollie Hundley turned in a sterling performance against the San Diego Captains, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. The winner in relief was Tim McGovern. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 3-7. The 'W' lifts New York's record to 49-46.

New York won the game in the bottom of the 12th inning. With no outs and Darryl Armstrong on the mound for San Diego, catcher Charlie Fee hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Knickerbockers fans to their feet.

"To not win that game stings a little bit," said San Diego manager Joe Mack.
