Combs Sensational for Burros
|
The Denver Burros picked up a win at Flatbush Park, dropping the Brooklyn Bluebirds, 5-2. Frank Combs, who finished 2nd in the ABL in innings pitched with 269.0 in 1971, was the difference-maker. Denver improves to 62-34 with the win. They lead their division by 9½ games.
The Bluebirds had trouble solving Combs, who surrendered no runs on 2 hits over 7 innings.
"Frank did a heck of a job," said Denver manager Clark Anderson.
