Atlanta Topples Toronto, 4-2
|
The Atlanta Generals picked up a win at Atlantic Station Field, knocking off the Toronto Hurons, 4-2. Starting pitcher Bill Davis played a key role in the triumph. Davis yielded 2 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 8-5. The last-place Generals now have a record of 42-52.
Atlanta took a 4-2 lead on Rudy Spencer's 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Spencer hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Toronto pitcher Joe Scott visibly frustrated.
Spencer attributed the win to his team's "hyper resolve."
