Captains Defeat Quakers, 1-0
|
The San Diego Captains picked up a win at Quakers Stadium, knocking off the Philadelphia Quakers, 1-0. On the mound for San Diego was right-hander Dan Holstrom, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winner in relief was Ray Beasley. He is now 6-6. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. The triumph makes San Diego 29-67.
San Diego used the timely hitting of Dale Betteridge to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Captains on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Holstrom.
