Bluebirds Nip Blockbusters, 6-5
|
The Brooklyn Bluebirds beat the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 6-5. Brooklyn pitcher and Tecumseh, Michigan, native Bill Keiser led the way. Tom Keller, credited with the save, is now 2 for 3 in save opportunities. Los Angeles has now lost 4 in a row.
Ron Nichols drove in one run for Brooklyn. The 34-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Dick Berry. It was his 11th RBI of the season.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Nichols told the Brooklyn Chronicle.
