The Brooklyn Bluebirds picked up a win at San Diego Sporting Complex, taking down the San Diego Captains, 6-4. Starting pitcher Damon Rutherford was a big reason why. The winner was Bob Hill in relief. His record improves to 2-4. Dave Gilson took the loss. The victory gives Brooklyn a record of 50-49.

Mike Bennett came through with a big-time hit for Brooklyn. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

In postgame remarks, Rutherford said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
