Burros 5-2 Winners Versus Washington
|
Starting pitcher Willie Purter was a major factor in the 5-2 Denver Burros triumph over the Washington Eagles. Purter, who won the Rookie of the Year Award in 1960, went the distance for Denver. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. Denver is now 44-58, while Washington is 46-57.
Chuck Carr helped his team take an early lead with a 2-run single. It came in the first inning, making the score 2-0, Burros.
"I really like what we did out there today," Carr said after the game.
