Burros Flame Out Against Hartman, Quakers
|
Mel Hartman was impressive at Quakers Stadium in the 5-0 Philadelphia Quakers victory over the Denver Burros. The Philadelphia pitcher mystified the Burros in a strong performance, giving up 3 hits and totaling 1 walk and 4 strikeouts.
"Mel had them chasing a lot of pitches and talking to themselves," Philadelphia manager Jeff Green. "It was something special to watch."
This year, Hartman has a 12-4 mark in 20 starts with a 2.69 ERA. He has given up 123 hits in 157.1 innings, struck out 89 and issued 48 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .217 batting average against him.
