Thanks in large part to shortstop Larry Beckman, the Cincinnati Packers beat the St. Louis Explorers, 6-4. Beckman went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Art Ledington picked up the win, lifting his record to 6-9 on the season. He struck out 5 and walked 2 in 7 innings, while yielding 3 runs. Cincinnati has now won 4 straight.

John Hembree went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI for Cincinnati. The 27-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Dick Lott. It was his 32nd RBI of the season.
