The Denver Burros picked up a win at Gates Crescent Park, knocking off the Philadelphia Quakers, 2-1. Starting pitcher Keith Williams played a key role in the triumph. Frank Combs earned his 18th save in 19 chances. Denver is 66-36 and Philadelphia, with the loss, 39-62.
Guillaume Moret, who finished 3rd in the NBL in extra base hits with 61 in 1967, chipped in a solo home run for Denver in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"We've got to get out of this funk," said Philadelphia manager Jeff Green.
