Seagulls Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The San Francisco Seagulls did just enough to secure a victory over the Los Angeles Pobladores, 2-1, at San Vicente Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Richie Kolb. San Francisco reliever Chuck Porter picked up the win, upping his record to 6-6. Leon Fairley shouldered the loss. The Seagulls move to 54-46 with the win, while the Pobladores drop to 36-68.
San Francisco used the timely hitting of Don Johnson to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Seagulls on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I really like what we did out there today," Johnson said after the game.
