The Houston Drillers finished off the San Francisco Seagulls, 10-4. Much of the credit belonged to catcher Rich Lewis. Lewis went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Drillers. Houston now has a record of 54-48 with the win.

Armando Amador had a big bases-clearing double for the Drillers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Houston leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a forkball from Dennis Fulton, who finished 3rd in the ABL in innings pitched with 249.1 in 1964, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Drillers ahead, 6-2.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Amador.
