Hurons Pull Out Late Win, 1-0
|
Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Toronto Hurons and Detroit Wolverines.
The Hurons faced a stiff challenge from Detroit pitcher John Fredrick, but persevered to claim a win at Dominion Field. The final score was 1-0. Fredrick went 8.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Toronto reliever Steve Persenaire picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. John Fredrick absorbed the loss.
The decisive blow was delivered by Bill Hunt in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off two-time All-Star John Fredrick to win the game for Toronto. The home crowd went nuts.
"This wasn't a good win," said Hunt. "It was a great win."
Toronto has a record of 48-54, placing them 5th in the American Baseball League Eastern Division.
