Empires Prevail, 1-0, Over Baltimore
|
In a low-scoring affair between the New York Empires and the Baltimore Lords, pitcher Andy Humphrey was the difference between victory and defeat. The New York right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 1-0 Empires win. The win for the Empires raised their record to 61-41.
Tom Glenn, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1968 draft, had a direct impact on the outcome. Glenn contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the second inning to put New York up, 1-0.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" New York manager Dan Whiting said.
