Lester Batters Cincinnati for 5 Hits
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Dave Lester, it came around today.

The 31-year-old second baseman scattered hits all over Roman Arena to pace the 10-2 New York Knickerbockers victory over the Cincinnati Packers.

Cincinnati skipper Martin Abresch told reporters in the press room that "Lester deserves a hat-tip."

"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Lester hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."

Dave Lester hit a two-run home run off Armando Estrada in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Armando Estrada in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.

So far on the season, Lester is hitting .299 with 12 home runs, 42 RBIs and 51 runs scored. He has 100 hits and played in 93 games.
