Captains Turn Away Burros, 3-2
|
The San Diego Captains got a stellar effort from pitcher Dave Fields, helping San Diego score a win over the visiting Denver Burros, 3-2. Darryl Armstrong converted his 2nd save in 3 tries. San Diego, with the win, climbs to 34-70.
In the bottom of the sixth, San Diego third baseman Norm Lane put his team on top. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit his 5th home run of the year. Denver pitcher Bart Dunsley served it up. Just like that, the Captains were ahead, 3-2.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Fields said.
