Dairymen Beat St. Louis, 2-1
|
Bob Trout pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The St. Louis Explorers, despite Trout's fine outing, dropped a 2-1 decision to the Milwaukee Dairymen at Corps of Discovery Stadium. Milwaukee reliever John Williams picked up the win, upping his record to 3-7. Bob Trout was saddled with the loss. The last-place Dairymen own a record of 30-74.
Tyree Davis came through with a big-time hit for Milwaukee. The first baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 2-0. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Milwaukee manager Brandon Dudley said.
