The Milwaukee Dairymen got a stellar performance from pitcher John Gannon, who handcuffed the St. Louis offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Milwaukee Municipal Stadium. Gannon got the win, improving to 8-15. He gave up 7 hits and walked 4 over 8 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Archie Sereni earned his 14th save in 18 chances.
With one out in the bottom of the eighth, Champ Arkle had a game-changing hit. The Dairymen first baseman slammed a 2-run single off Rick Morton, making the score 4-1, Milwaukee.
"John was bobbing and weaving the whole game," said Milwaukee manager Brandon Dudley.
The win has Milwaukee at 41-64.
