Drillers Win, 3-1, at Seattle

The Houston Drillers got a magnificent effort from pitcher Jerry Zaruba, who kept Seattle hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Drillers win at Puget Field. Earning his 19th save of the year was Bill Switzer. The Emeralds, at 47-56, have lost 5 in a row.
Mike Lockhart, who finished 2nd in the NBL in on-base percentage with .366 in 1967, had a direct impact on the outcome. Lockhart contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Houston up, 3-1.
"I was just trying to execute one pitch at a time," said Zaruba.
