Seagulls Come Up Short at Seattle, 2-1
|
Todd Simmons pitched a gem to lead Seattle to victory over the San Francisco Seagulls, 2-1. In 6.2 innings, Simmons surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. The Emeralds move to 43-61 with the win, while the Seagulls drop to 55-48.
In the bottom of the fifth, Mark Clark delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Seattle left fielder hit a 2-run single, putting the Emeralds in front, 2-1.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Simmons said after the game.
