Seagulls Trip Hawks, 5-3, in Extra Innings
|
The San Francisco Seagulls picked up a win at Hyde Park Stadium, taking down the Chicago Hawks, 5-3, in 11 innings. On the mound for San Francisco was right-hander Ramon Juarez. He played a central role in the triumph. Dave Maughan snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 2 innings. He's now 3-3 on the season. The Seagulls have an impressive 64-41 record.
San Francisco used the timely hitting of John Cobb to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Seagulls on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Seagulls manager Al Borie.
