Big Day for Howard as Dairymen Down Bobcats, 9-3
The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Milwaukee fans at Milwaukee Municipal Stadium.

With first baseman Tom Howard leading the charge, the Milwaukee Dairymen defeated the Cleveland Bobcats, 9-3, at Milwaukee Municipal Stadium. Howard, who is a five-time All-Star, went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Milwaukee pitcher Jeff Munoz got the win, upping his record to 9-10. Fred Ahrens got the loss.

The Dairymen got an important contribution from center fielder Melvin Perez, who in the bottom of the third punched a first pitch fastball into left-center for a 2-run double. It was his 13th double of the season and put the Dairymen ahead, 5-0.

"I still think this team can play even better," Howard told the Milwaukee Daily.

Milwaukee has now won 4 straight, while the Bobcats have lost 3 in a row.
