Industrials Hold Off Eagles, 3-2
|
The Pittsburgh Industrials did just enough to secure a victory over the Washington Eagles, 3-2, at Monument Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Dick Witt. The National Baseball League Eastern Division-leading Industrials have a record of 70-38.
The Industrials benefited from an error in the top of the sixth inning. Pittsburgh was trailing 2-1 when Bo McBean hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put Pittsburgh in front, 3-2.
Witt told a Pittsburgh Chronicle reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
