The inspired effort of Pittsburgh first baseman Alex Robinson was not enough to prevent a loss, 6-3, to the New York Knickerbockers. Robinson was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. Picking up the win was Sid Shafer. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits. The left--hander struck out 2 and walked 1. New York goes to 58-48, Pittsburgh to 61-45.

Third Baseman Bob White made an impact for New York, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Jerry Zaruba in the top of the fourth. For the contest, White was 2-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

New York manager Timothy Widholm called it "a good, solid win."
