Lintner Rips 2 Home Runs in 3-2 Empires Triumph
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the New York Empires got the win.
The New York Empires beat the Toronto Hurons, 3-2, at Dominion Field. The win was due in part to third baseman Rick Lintner, who went 2 for 2 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. New York is now 57-54. Toronto is 58-56.
Lintner had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-2 changeup from Ben Immel, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Empires a 3-2 lead. It was the 23rd home run of the year for Lintner.
"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Lintner told the New York Bulletin.
