Blockbusters Victors, 6-1, at Milwaukee
|
The Los Angeles Blockbusters went home winners at Milwaukee Municipal Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Larry Messenger. Messenger stifled the Milwaukee Dairymen, enabling Los Angeles to grab the 6-1 win. Messenger, now 11-8, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. The Los Angeles winning streak has reached 3 games.
Los Angeles used a well-timed hit by Pedro Villamil to capture the win. The shortstop socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Blockbusters ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Villamil told the Los Angeles News: "Don't care what other people think. Pedro knows who Pedro is."
