Packers Win at Pittsburgh, 5-4
|
The Pittsburgh Industrials could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Jeff Munoz into a win. Instead, the Cincinnati Packers prevailed, 5-4. Munoz threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Jackie Richardson earned the win for Cincinnati. He lasted 8 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 9-10. Brian Alfieri earned the save, his 3rd in 4 tries.
Glenn Palmer came through with a big-time hit for Cincinnati. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Pittsburgh manager Vincent Wicker. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
With the win, Cincinnati goes to 52-57, while the Industrials fall to 63-46.
