Captains 5-2 Victors Over Denver

The San Diego Captains got a good effort from starter Bret Weingartz in defeating the Denver Burros at San Diego Sporting Complex. The final score was 5-2. Weingartz picked up the win for San Diego, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 9-7. The Captains saw their record improve to 55-54.
Ramon Montoya had a big 2-run double for the Captains in the bottom of the fifth inning. With San Diego leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Kim Glanden, who is tied for 2nd in the NBL with a 0.99 WHIP, and swatted a double to left. It was his 14th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Captains ahead, 5-1.
Weingartz called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
