Knickerbockers Win Streak Reaches 6
|
The New York Knickerbockers picked up a win at Knickerbocker Stadium, knocking off the Washington Eagles, 7-2. On the mound for New York was right-hander Jack Forbes. He played a key role in the triumph. Forbes yielded no runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2. His record improves to 1-0. The win brings the Knickerbockers to 8-3, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Bob Marston, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1966 draft, took Washington hurler Pedro Nunez deep in the bottom of the fourth. His solo home run put the Knickerbockers on top, 1-0. In all, Marston had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"Jack throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said New York manager Timothy Widholm.
