Pobladores Lose at Home, 7-2
|
Getting a good performance from center fielder Melvin Perez, the Twin Cities Northmen defeated the Los Angeles Pobladores, 7-2. Perez went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Northmen. The winning pitcher was 37-year old right-handed pitcher Roger Long. He tossed 117 pitches over 8 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits. The 5th-place Northmen now have a record of 51-58.
Carl Jacobs, who led the ABL in home runs with 39 in 1970, helped out the Twin Cities cause in the top of the fourth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the right fielder was 1 for 5.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Jacobs.
