Drillers Earn Clutch Win, 7-6
Scott Wagner had a good game, but he could not keep the San Francisco Seagulls from falling, 7-6, to the Houston Drillers at Mission Field. The San Francisco third baseman was 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 in the loss. Dick Witt earned the save, his 6th in 8 tries. Houston has run its win streak to 5 in a row.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the ninth, with the game tied, Lou Ward was at the plate when Houston scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Drillers to go in front, 6-5.

"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Houston manager Nate Nilsson.
