Big Day for Cooper as Bluebirds Down Packers, 9-1
|
Getting offensive support from Jackie Cooper, the Brooklyn Bluebirds topped the Cincinnati Packers, 9-1. Cooper went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 3 for the Bluebirds. The win elevated the Bluebirds to 57-53.
With Brooklyn leading 4-1 in the top of the ninth, Cooper hit a fastball from Larry Burns for a 3-run home run. It was his 14th home run of the season and put the Bluebirds ahead, 7-1.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Brooklyn skipper John Meeker.
