Explorers Top Dairymen, 2-1, Behind Trent
|
St. Louis got an elite performance from starting pitcher Jimmy Trent in taking a 2-1 decision over the Milwaukee Dairymen. Earning the save was Don Dalton. He's now cashed in 20 of 25 save opportunities. The National Baseball League Western Division-leading Explorers have a record of 64-48.
Trent, the winner, is now 11-8 after putting the clamps on the Milwaukee offense. In 8 innings of work, he gave up 1 run on 4 hits, while collecting 6 Ks.
"Jimmy was Jimmy," said Explorers manager Ray Fleetwood. "We know what we'll get whenever he takes the mound."
