Knickerbockers Earn Late 2-1 Win
Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the New York Knickerbockers and Cincinnati Packers.

The New York Knickerbockers got a magnificent performance from pitcher Sid Shafer, who muffled the Cincinnati offense en route to a tight, 2-1 Knickerbockers win at Knickerbocker Stadium. The loss makes Cincinnati 48-64.

Had Francisco Chavez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Chavez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Knickerbockers.

"We're feeling good in this clubhouse right now after that one," Shafer told the New York Chronicle.
