Emeralds Beaten By Seagulls, 5-2
|
The San Francisco Seagulls got a stellar effort from pitcher Pete Ragsdale, helping San Francisco score a win over the visiting Seattle Emeralds, 5-2. The victory makes San Francisco 7-5, as the team seeks a return to the playoffs in 1975.
Scott Wagner had a big 2-run triple for the Seagulls in the bottom of the fifth inning. With San Francisco leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from fan favorite Dave Gilson and swatted a triple to right. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Seagulls ahead, 4-1.
Said losing manager Mark Velez: "Give the Seagulls credit. They played a better game than we did."
