St. Louis and Denver took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.

In a low-scoring tilt between the St. Louis Explorers and the Denver Burros, Marty Clark, the 24th overall pick in the 1967 draft, was the difference-maker. The St. Louis right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. The triumph puts St. Louis at 65-49 for the season.

The Explorers got a big at-bat from center fielder Ken Osterhage. For the game, Osterhage went 1 for 3 with a double. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 23rd double of the season gave St. Louis a 2-1 lead.

Osterhage called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
