Starting pitcher Rick McStay had a solid game. He was a big reason the Houston Drillers throttled the Twin Cities Northmen, 2-1. Houston reliever Bill Footman picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Tommy Lloyd absorbed the loss. The second-place Drillers have won 4 consecutive games.

The Drillers got a clutch hit from second baseman Chuck Walton. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Drillers.

"We had a chance to win," said Twin Cities manager Jason Gudim, "but we didn't get it done."
