Wranglers Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
The Dallas Wranglers got a good effort from starter Charlie Sokol in defeating the Los Angeles Pobladores at Bluff Park. The final score was 2-1. Sokol, now 12-6, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Earning the save was Frank Dunn. He's now cashed in 25 of 33 save opportunities.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Wranglers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when second baseman Dick Howard hit a 2-run single. The single came off Bob Powell and made the score 2-0, Wranglers. Howard was 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"Not enough offense on our side," lamented Los Angeles manager Kurt Peterson.
Dallas has now won 7 straight, while the Pobladores have lost 3 in a row.
