Reid Rodgers helped his team muscle past the Chicago Traders, 6-3. In the game, the San Diego third baseman was 3 for 3 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. The winning pitcher was Ray Heath. He's now 13-6. He went 8.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits for the Captains. Dave Fields earned the save, his 13th.
With San Diego leading 2-0 in the top of the second, Rodgers hit a sinker from Jose Mojica for a run-scoring triple. It was his 9th triple of the season and put the Captains ahead, 3-0.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Rodgers told the San Diego Chronicle.
With the win, San Diego has a record of 61-53. Chicago falls to 60-53.
