Industrials Need Extra Innings to Top Quakers, 1-0
|
The Pittsburgh Industrials had to overcome a fine effort from Philadelphia pitcher Chuck Galloway to win, 1-0, in 11 innings at Allegheny Field. Galloway went 9 innings and allowed no runs. The win gives Pittsburgh a season record of 68-47.
The decisive blow was delivered by Jim Shuman in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a solo home run off 28-year old right-handed pitcher Art Wohlt to win the game for Pittsburgh. The home crowd went nuts.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Shuman.
