Terriers Score Late, Topple Generals, 4-2
|
The Atlanta Generals got a superb performance from pitcher Steve Gregg, but the Boston Terriers still won the game, 4-2. Gregg threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Picking up the win was Bob Schar. He went 8 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. The left--hander struck out 5 and walked 1. Brian Long was called on to finish, recording his 4th save.
Boston used a timely hit from Lou Middleton to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Terriers ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
Middleton attributed the win to his team's "hyper resolve."
With the win, Boston goes to 62-53, while the Generals fall to 49-66.
