Toronto Beaten, 4-1, by New York
|
The New York Empires topped the Toronto Hurons, 4-1, in American Baseball League action at Dominion Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of New York pitcher Jon Pierce. Tom Duncan closed out the game, earning his 6th save. With the win, New York pushed its record to 58-54.
New York used the timely hitting of Miguel Preciado to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Empires on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Preciado said.
